Our Impact
At Gravity Wave, we work to generate a positive impact on the Mediterranean Sea, transforming its reality with concrete actions against plastic pollution.
of plastic recovered from the sea and harbours
*64.8% of the materials we recover come from harbours, while 35.2% come from the sea.
of plastic repurposed into materials and products
The plastic we’ve repurposed so far has been transformed into projects with real impact..
The Value Chain
At Gravity Wave, we transform marine plastic into sustainable solutions through a three-step value chain:
- 1 – We collect plastics and nets
- in collaboration with traditional fishermen.
- 2 – We recycle them to create high-quality raw materials.
- 3 – We transform them into innovative products that generate positive impact.
Impact Report
The 2023 Impact Report reflects a year of commitment to a cleaner planet. Discover the amount of plastic recovered, the environmental impact achieved alongside our partner companies, and the inspiring stories that motivate us to continue working for a better world.

Click hereWe measure and ensure impact with Blockchain
We use Blockchain to ensure the traceability of plastics recovered from the sea and harbours, providing transparency at every step of the value chain, from collection to transformation.
How do we ensure traceability in the value chain?
Collection Phase
The collector logs the details of the collection: date, time, location, and the number of containers collected. Real-time images of the collected waste are also uploaded to the app.
Recycling Phase
When the containers arrive at the recycling plant, the sorter weighs them and assigns that weight to the code of each collection. Photos of the materials and the weighing process are uploaded as well.
Transformation Phase
Once recycled, the nets and plastics move to the transformation phase, where they are converted into new, useful materials. This step ensures the recovered plastic has a positive impact and can be reused.
What do we deliver to our partners?
Starting from 10,000 kg, partners receive a detailed report including: the kilos collected, the harbours of origin, dates and locations and hotos of the collected plastic. This enables partners to track the project’s progress and see the tangible impact we’re achieving together.

Ethics and Transparency in Everything We Do
For us, sustainability and transparency are the foundation of everything. We ensure that our actions are genuine, measurable, and backed by verified data using Blockchain. This allows our actions to speak for themselves, leaving no room for greenwashing.
How Do We Work with Our Partners?
We collaborate on impactful and traceable projects that align with Directive (EU) 2024/825.
Current challenges in recycling and revaluation
One of the biggest challenges we face today is that a significant percentage of the materials collected during sea cleanup operations cannot be recycled or transformed into useful products for a circular economy. Why? Due to high recycling costs and an industry still unprepared to handle these types of waste.
If you are a waste manager or recycler with solutions for recycling different materials, reach out to us. Together, we can find ways to tackle this challenge.
